Happy American Zoo Day!

After being closed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown, the Detroit Zoo is once again open, but there are new safely measures in place to keep visitors safe.

Guests who attend the Zoo must make reservations before they go, plus follow new safety guidelines and protocols.

Reservations may be made up to two weeks in advance, and the capacity for the zoo is limited to 1,000 visitors per day. Fewer than 500 people are allowed inside the zoo at any one time to ensure social distancing.

In addition, zoo attendees ages 2 years old and older, unless otherwise prevented by a medical condition, are required to wear a face mask or shield. Visitors may purchase face masks outside of the main admission gate entrance.

Those walking around the zoo will also notice more hand sanitizing and hand washing stations throughout the grounds. Visitors will also see ground markers and signage to help keep people a safe distance from each other.
