TikTok: Microsoft May Buy The App

The popular video-based app could potentially become Microsoft's newest product. The acquisition efforts come after President Trump said that he is considering “banning TikTok” in the United States. The Times reports that President Trump is expected to require ByteDance to sever ties with the popular app.

Several reports have stated the Chinese owned app poses a threat to national security, according to lawmakers and the Trump Administration.

“We may be doing some other things. There’s a couple of options. But a lot of things are happening, so we’ll see what happens. But we are looking at a lot of alternatives with respect to TikTok,” President Trump told reporters earlier on Friday.

Tik Tok, owned by ByteDance, currently has operating offices in New York and Los Angeles and has added tens of thousands of jobs to the United States economy.
