BEVERLY HILLS, CA - FEBRUARY 09: Jazmine Sullivan performs onstage during the Pre-GRAMMY Gala and GRAMMY Salute to Industry Icons Honoring Clarence Avant at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on February 9, 2019 in Beverly Hills, California.

Jazmine Sullivan recently took to Instagram to break down the runs in her current “Jazmine Sullivan Challenge,” that’s been circulating on social media where people, other singers included, have tried to mimic the singer’s runs.

“I’m no music teacher but I tried to help. Thank u @theyhavetherange for starting this challenge. After y’all hear the notes slowed down send me ur vids again. If u already got it DISREGARD this message!! This is for beginners!”  Sullivan wrote in the caption of her post.

“Also, I may or may not have sung my own damn run wrong but that’s my business! Thanks @antoinettewashere for the edit and thank you all for supporting me. I needed the love, especially today o also I’m not keeping this video up long cuz.”

“I’ve been hearing everybody do this Jazmine Sullivan challenge. First of all, thank y’all so much for even thinking of me. I’ve been hearing everybody do this run from like the beastiest of beasts,” Sullivan said.

“The best of singers to singers who are kind of just beginning to everybody in between. You all are doing really really well. There are people who are more advanced.”

“They are adding notes to the actual run going further down the scale, which is super dope. They are hitting stuff like crazy,” Sullivan said before hitting a run.”

“But for the people who are just starting out trying runs and stuff like that I want to help you guys to do the run. What I really think is happening is a lot of you are overthinking it. I think if I break it down for you guys it’s simple.”
