The City of Detroit Hiring Residents for Alley Cleanup Program
The City of Detroit has paid positions open for residents who want to assist in cleaning up alleys.
Detroit launched its new alley cleanup program in August and is currently set to clean 500 alleys by the end of the year. As of now, 29 have been cleaned.
“The alley cleanup program was a direct response to what we’ve heard from residents for years,” Mayor Mike Duggan said in a press release.
“We’ve heard the continual requests to get the alleys cleaned up,” he added. “Not only are we listening; we’re acting, but we can’t do this work alone. Together with registered block clubs across the city, and any Detroiter that wants to help get the work done, we can get this city cleaned up, one alley at a time.”
The city is seeking to hire at least 20 more Detroit residents for the cleanup positions. The pay ranges from $13 to $20, and various positions are available.
