Ford Motor Company Issues Safety Alert for 375,200 Ford Explorers
Ford Motor Company has issued a recall on certain 2013-2017 Ford Explorers, which have an issue that diminishes steering control and has been tied to at least 13 accidents and six injuries, according to a statement.
The safety recall impacts 375,200 vehicles in North America and Canada.
Certain Explorers registered in areas where corrosion is common “have experienced a fracture of the outboard section of the rear suspension toe link after completion of a prior safety recall repair,” according to the release. The fracture “significantly diminishes steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.”
These vehicles in question were built at the Chicago Assembly Plant from Sept. 4, 2012, to Jan. 25, 2017.
Ford dealers will do a torque inspection of the cross-axis ball joint and replace it, if needed, for Explorer owners.
