An Arkansas family who was sent a racist note in regards to their Black Santa display is receiving national headlines thanks to the family’s neighbors.

The Kennedy family received a racist note in their mailbox asking them to remove their Black Santa saying,

The Lakewood Property Owners Association denounced their involvement after it was revealed that whoever sent the letter used their return address. Lakewood personally assured the family that they were valid members of their community.

After neighbors heard about the letter they decided to support the Kennedy’s by putting up Black Santa’s all over the neighborhood.

Chip Welch, 70, who has lived in the neighborhood with his wife for more than 20 years said, “We were all pretty concerned about it, and we decided it would be poetic for everyone to get Black Santa’s.” Welch continued saying, “It was unsolicited, it was undeserved, it was un-Christmas, and hopefully it was not reflective of Lakewood, and certainly not reflective of the kind of country I want to live in.” (Source: Washington Post)
