Added Sheriff’s Deputies to Patrol Oakland County Lakes Over the Holiday Weekend
Expect to see added sheriff’s deputies patrolling Oakland County lakes during the holiday weekend.
The boost in patrolling is due to a national campaign hoping to reducing alcohol and drug-related accidents and deaths on water, such as lakes and rivers.
The campaign, dubbed Operation Dry Water, was started by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators, in conjunction with the U.S. Coast Guard and law enforcement.
The sheriff’s office reports that Oakland County in the area north and northwest of Detroit has 450 navigable lakes. That’s a lot!
Be careful while you’re having fun this holiday weekend!
