These 4 Michigan Area Codes Will Soon Have Mandatory 10-Digit Local Dialing
The FCC is implementing new guidelines for dialing beginning on Oct. 24, and Michigan is one of 37 states impacted.
In other words, if you live in one of the four area codes in Michigan impacted by the guidelines, you’ll have to change how you make phone calls. For Michigan, this includes all of the state’s 616, 810, 906, and 989 area codes.
Customers will have to do mandatory 10-digit dialing (area code + telephone number) for local – yes, local – calls. They will not be able to dial seven digits for local calls.
