Which Michigan Grocery Stores Are Open and Closed on Thanksgiving?
What happens if you’re in a crunch on Thanksgiving and have to run to a local grocery store? We’ve all been there. Everything is set for Thanksgiving dinner, until you realize you have to hit the store for a last-minute item. I’ve had to jet to the local grocery store or, in my case, Quality Dairy store for last-minute items many times.
So, what’s open and closed on Thanksgiving? Let’s start with what’s open, according to each store’s official website.
Meijer stores have regular hours on Thanksgiving, so if you need something in a pinch, you’re in luck. Whole Foods stores are also open on Thanksgiving, but customers should call their local store or visit the website for holiday hours. Kroger will be open on Thanksgiving Day, but hours vary by location. ShopRite stores will be open for regular hours.
Now, what’s closed. Walmart stores will be closed on Thanksgiving, so skip that early Black Friday urge. Target stores, including ones that carry grocery items, will be closed on Thanksgiving. Other grocery chains in Michigan that are closed on Thanksgiving Day include Busch’s Fresh Food Market, Gordon Food Service Trader Joe’s and Aldi.
