The holiday travel season means people across the U.S. are going to be on the road a lot. Following last year’s light travel year, this year is expected to break records. So, which highways should you avoid during your Thanksgiving and Christmas trips?

It’s a complicated question, but the crew at Austin-based insurance comparison site The Zebra has put together a study of the most most dangerous roads in the U.S. For the study, the company analyzed the latest data of highways with the most fatal accidents.

So, what’s the most dangerous road in Michigan? According to the study, the road to stay away from is I-75. That’s, of course, one of the most traveled roads in Michigan. In fact, it was found to be the fourth most dangerous highway in the entire U.S. “Running through several high-traffic areas including Detroit, Cincinnati, Atlanta, Tampa, and Fort Myers, FL, as well as being particularly dangerous during the winter months when roads are icy or heavy with snow,” the study states.

They project I-75 has 13.27 fatalities per 100 miles. That’s a lot. The most dangerous road in the U.S., according to The Zebra, is I-95. For more information and the full study, go here.
