It’s obviously chili season. January is really the perfect month to sit down with a big, piping hot bowl of chili and cozy up by the fire. When it comes to Michigan, we have a bunch of great spots to get a bowl of chili, and now, a national study has determined the best. I’m actually a vegetarian, but vegetarian chili can be amazing, with lots of beans.

“Eat This, Not This!” put together a study to find the best chili in America. “Piled high on a plate of fries, served with a dollop of sour cream, sprinkled with shredded cheddar cheese, or made sans toppings, this dish is delicious no matter how you like to have it prepared,” they say in the study. ” And lucky for us, there seems to be no shortage of chili found in eateries throughout the country.”

So, what’s No. 1 in Michigan? The publication says the best spot to get chili in Michigan is Lafayette Coney Island in Detroit.

“Piled high on warm cheese fries, stuffed onto a hot dog, or served on its own, Lafayette Coney Island in Detroit makes a chili that can be enjoyed in a myriad of ways,” they state. “There’s also a ‘no bean’ chili option that sounds just as good as the original.”
