It's no secret that Michigan has some great public markets. Pretty much every major city in Michigan, and also every small town, has its own designated market with fresh fruits and vegetables and more goodies.

That said, it should come as no surprise that one of Michigan's biggest public markets has been named one of the best in the entire U.S.

Detroit's Eastern Market was chosen as the third-best public market in the country, according to a new poll from USA Today readers. The publication, which conducts the 10Best Awards every year, has officially announced the winners in the public market category for 2022, and Detroit beat out markets in Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles.

"Thousands of locals and visitors head to Detroit's Eastern Market each week, where they find some 250 independent merchants and vendors selling everything from fresh produce and flowers to antiques and home goods," USA Today stated.

So, what spot landed at No. 1? Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia was voted the No. 1 market, and Pike Place Market in Seattle was voted No. 2. For more information, go here.

During the winter, sitting on your porch can be, er, a not very fun experience. One of the best things to do when it gets warm in Michigan is to just sit on the porch for a while and enjoy not freezing! (Photo by Justin Sullivan/Getty Images)
