The Food Network is a regular in Michigan. After all, Michigan has some fantastic places to eat, so the network has been in town to give press to some of the state's so-called hidden gems. But, it's not just Michigan restaurants getting the love.

The Food Network was recently in the Mitten to give press to a charming Michigan bakery. It's pretty cool to see this little shop get splashed across cable television, and what's extra awesome is seeing how the segment directly impacted the bakery.

Earlier this week, The Food Network featured Flint bakery The Cookie Jar on the network. It was actually on the very first episode of "Bake or Break," which sees award-winning chef Stephanie Boswell offering insight on improving the business, as well as working with HGTV designers redo to the business' storefront.

“Owner Teressa Morris has poured every penny she has into her bakery and is struggling to keep the lights on,” a news release from the network reads. “Her Million Dollar Cookies are epic but one hit menu item is not enough to keep her in business. Stephanie teaches Teressa how to capitalize on her signature cookie to expand her menu and bring in new revenue streams. Stephanie restores more than just the bakery, as she instills confidence in Teressa to be a stronger leader."

Following the airing on Monday (April 11), The Cookie Jar took to Facebook to thank customers and views for their support. "Happy Tuesday friends! We are completely overwhelmed by the positive responses and feedback after yesterday’s episode on Food Network! THANK YOU!" They added, "We are working hard to answer all messages, comments, etc. A lot of people have been asking about ONLINE ORDERING. We are very close to completion on a website and are striving toward online orders and shipping in the very near future! We are so excited that so many people in other states want to try our cookies..."

It's spring, and today it actually feels like it across much of Michigan. Of course, this is Michigan, which means at any given moment we could be graced with snow and ice, even mid-spring. But, right now, warm weather and ice cream are on the mind.

I simply love ice cream. It's probably my favorite food. The more chocolaty and decadent and cookie dough-laced, the better. Here in Michigan, we have an array of incredible ice cream shops, some that are open seasonally and others year-round. There's lots of ice cream to go around, whether you prefer soft-serve (not for me) or regular.

Pure Michigan has put together a list of the best ice cream shops in Michigan. If anybody knows their Mitten ice cream, it's Pure Michigan, since they handle all the touristy stuff around the state. Read on for the full list. I actually added my own picks to make this list 20, since some of the Pure Michigan picks have sadly closed. My main pick was the MSU Dairy Store on the campus of Michigan State University. If you're ever in East Lansing, it's really something you have to experience. They make all of their own ice cream, and since MSU is an agricultural college, you know it's some of the best-tasting stuff around. I also included Quality Dairy, which is known for its fantastic ice cream around mid-Michigan. If you have a favorite ice cream spot that was left out, reach out to me on social media and let me know.
