It's almost summer, and that feels oh-so good in Michigan. Our winters tend to be long and, well, cold, so it's always a positive thing when summer rolls around and Michiganders can be outside for an extended length of time.

Michigan has a collection of fantastic beaches, since we're obviously the Great Lakes State. You can't go wrong with any of the state's fine beaches, whether they are on the Great Lakes or one of our many inland lakes. Now, the experts over at U.S. News and World Report have put together a list of the best beaches in Michigan, and one stands out.

According to U.S. News and World Report, the No. 1 beach in Michigan is Warren Dunes State Park. I've never been there, but it sounds fascinating. "Overlooking Lake Michigan, Warren Dunes State Park boasts 6 miles of hiking trails and 3 miles of shoreline," the publication states. "Spend the day collecting beach glass, discovering lost treasures with a metal detector or kayaking on the only Great Lake located completely inside the U.S. Better yet, with a designated dog-friendly beach, the whole family is welcome to tag along. If you need a break from the water, hop on a sandboard and zip down Tower Hill, the park's highest point, or go hang gliding off of its peak. On a clear day, you may see Chicago in the distance."

Now, I'm more of a Grand Haven girl, but that spot comes in at No. 3 on the list, so at least it's high up. The publication picked P.J. Hoffmaster State Park for No. 2, South Haven at No. 4 and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore at No. 5. Find the full list here. What's your favorite Michigan beach? Reach out to me on social media and let me know, because I would love to try some new spots this summer.

Spring and summer are on the way, and that means it's vacation time. You don't need to travel far to experience an amazing vacation experience. In fact, chances are there's a great getaway just a road trip away. Here in Michigan, we have plenty of exciting beach towns and vacation-ready destinations.

Plenty of people from neighboring states and beyond actually come to Michigan to vacation in the spring and summer. I have a friend in Florida who rents a place up north for a week every summer. That said, why not take advantage of the beautiful land we have in Michigan and plan your spring getaway or summer vacation right here in the Mitten? One of my favorite things to do each summer and road trip to a new Michigan destination and take in that town's unique culture.

Read on for a list I've put together of some of Michigan's finest vacation destinations. I included 30 on this list, but of course, there are many more. The No. 1 spot, in my opinion, is Mackinac Island. If you're a Michigander and have never been to Mackinac Island, then you have some catching up to do. I remember going there as a child with my parents and grandparents and finding Petoskey stones- or at least purchasing them at a local gift shop.

If you're interested in a top 10 list, U.S. World and News Report recently put together a list of the 10 best places to visit in Michigan, which you can find here. As a Michigan native, I approve of their list, but there are far more than just 10 cities in Michigan that area prime vacation destinations.
