100m Running Track

Lester Wright, a WWII Vet and former business owner, used to be a runner in high school and later… much later… rejoined his hobby. At 77 he won the 200 meters at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia. Fast forward 23 years, Wright was met with a loud ovation as he finished 7th out of nine 80-year old runners in the 100 Meter Dash… in 26 seconds! (Source: Essence.com)

According to abc7NY.com the Penn Relays in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, are said to be “the oldest and largest track and field competition in the country.” With his 98-year old wife watching on, Wright told reports that he felt like he was, “just getting started” and though it was nice, he wanted “a longer race.”
