It's really hard to beat Middle Eastern food that's from Michigan. Of course, Dearborn has some great choices, as does the rest of the state. Going to Michigan State University, I was lucky to have places like Woody's Oasis and The Sultan's available for my Middle Eastern food cravings.

The crew at Yelp.com has put together a list of the best Middle Eastern food in the U.S., and one Michigan spot was picked to have the best in the entire state. "Shawarma, kafta, falafel, kibbeh, tabbouleh, and more!" Yelp states in the study. "The fresh, healthy, and aromatic dishes originating in the Middle East are worth indulging in and to help you plan your next feast, we pulled a list of the top dining spots in the U.S. Never explored Middle Eastern cuisine before? You can’t go wrong by starting with a spread of hummus, baba ganoush, and fluffy pita bread."

For methodology, Yelp calls this an "all-time list of the best Middle Eastern restaurants in every state according to Yelp. We identified businesses in the Middle Eastern category on Yelp then ranked those spots using a number of factors, including the total vlume and ratings of reviews. All businesses were marked open on Yelp as of March 29th, 2022. When available, all businesses on this list have a passing health score as of March 29th, 2022."

So, which spot is No. 1 in Michigan? Al Tayeb Restaurant in Garden City. It's garnered 109 reviews on Yelp. On Yelp, the owner states, "With 20 years of culinary experience, our chef is a master in the kitchen and prepares your meal with the utmost of care to ensure that your meal not only tastes better but is also healthier since everything is prepared from scratch." "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives," hosted by Guy Fieri on the Food Network, is one of the most popular shows for food lovers. There's just something super entertaining about Fieri, and the show is so fun to watch. What's extra cool is that Fieri has come to Michigan multiple times and picked local restaurants to highlight on the show.

TVFoodmaps.com has compiled a full directory of all the restaurants that have appeared on "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives." Think of this as a list of spots every Michigan food lover should visit. Some of these restaurants are familiar to me, like Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burger, while others I are not. My parents actually live just a few miles from Zaytoon Mediterranean in Lansing, Michigan, and I had no idea they were featured on the show until now. They do have some great Miditerranean food. Which are your favorite Michigan spots that you think should be featured on the show? Reach out to me on social media and give me some recommendations!

In total, Fieri has highlights 16 different Michigan restaurants on "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives." What can I say- we have some great eating spots here! View the full list of Michigan restaurants featured on the show below, and make sure to visit them at some point. View the full list here.
