We're nearing the end of summer, but that doesn't mean it's the end of burger season. I mean, burger season happens year-round. Do you know what's even better than a juicy burger? An equally juice cheeseburger, of course.
The staff at Yelp.com has put together a list of the best cheeseburgers in America, and one Michigan spot made the list. "Some say sweet dreams are made of cheeseburgers, and we couldn't agree more," Yelp.com states. "Thick and juicy, thin and crispy, slapped between a fluffy moist bun and topped with ooey gooey cheese, there’s nothing like the perfect cheeseburger to get your mouth watering and your tummy rumbling. We’ve compiled the top place from each state to get the dreamiest cheeseburgers. Slap on your stretchy pants and grab your ketchup, it's time to explore the top place in each state to grab a cheeseburger."
As for methodology, the list of the top cheeseburger in every state comes straight from Yelp data. "We identified businesses in the food and restaurants category on Yelp, with a large concentration of reviews mentioning 'cheeseburger,' then ranked those spots using a number of factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews mentioning 'cheeseburger' between January 1, 2022 and July 15, 2022," they state. "This list looked at businesses in the United States. All businesses were marked open on Yelp as of July 27, 2022. When available, all businesses on this list have a passing health score as of July 27, 2022."
So, what's No. 1 in Michigan? Green Dot Stables in Detroit. The restaurant has more than 2,000 reviews on Yelp a current rating of 4.5 stars, so it's obviously a favorite. One local reviewer, Joan M., commented, "This place has been my go to place to eat since 2 years. They're always so nice and respectful. The food also comes in time. The food also is warm and tasty. I've never experienced anything bad from this restaurant. I definitely recommend it." Find the full list here.
It's spring, and today it actually feels like it across much of Michigan. Of course, this is Michigan, which means at any given moment we could be graced with snow and ice, even mid-spring. But, right now, warm weather and ice cream are on the mind.
I simply love ice cream. It's probably my favorite food. The more chocolaty and decadent and cookie dough-laced, the better. Here in Michigan, we have an array of incredible ice cream shops, some that are open seasonally and others year-round. There's lots of ice cream to go around, whether you prefer soft-serve (not for me) or regular.
Pure Michigan has put together a list of the best ice cream shops in Michigan. If anybody knows their Mitten ice cream, it's Pure Michigan, since they handle all the touristy stuff around the state. Read on for the full list. I actually added my own picks to make this list 20, since some of the Pure Michigan picks have sadly closed. My main pick was the MSU Dairy Store on the campus of Michigan State University. If you're ever in East Lansing, it's really something you have to experience. They make all of their own ice cream, and since MSU is an agricultural college, you know it's some of the best-tasting stuff around. I also included Quality Dairy, which is known for its fantastic ice cream around mid-Michigan.
