Michigan Temperatures to Drop 20 Degrees – Here’s Where
I’m absolutely loving this warm weather in Michigan this week. Much of the lower peninsula is seeing temperatures in the 70s for the beginning of this week, which is fairly rare for this time of year. I’ve noticed many folks across the state taking advantage of the warm spell by going outside when they’re out of work and enjoying the last warm days of 2022.
Enjoy those 70s while you can, because a cold front is on the way. This cold front will drop temperatures across some areas of Michigan by a whopping 20 degrees or more. Say it isn’t so. Here’s when and where to expect the change.
In Detroit, Wednesday (Oct. 5) and Thursday (Oct. 6) highs are expected to hit almost 75, according to Accuweather.com. Those will be the two warmest days of the week. Then, on Friday, a major cold front makes its way into Michigan, with temperatures only topping out around 53. Saturday is 57, followed by a slight warmup, with temperatures in the 60s through the middle of the month. I’ll take it. Having temperatures in the 60s sounds much better than 50s to me.
Elsewhere in the state, a similar trend follows, according to Accuweather.com. In Lansing, temperatures are near 75 on Wednesday (Oct. 5) and 71 on Thursday (Oct. 6), followed by Friday temperatures around 52. The weekend brings temperatures in the 50s for Saturday and 60s for Sunday, followed by low 60s through mid-October. In Grand Rapids, temperatures are almost identical to Lansing, but there’s a chance of showers on Thursday, whereas Lansing and Detroit are dry. The good news is that for the most part, the next week will be dry across Michigan, offering some sunny weather to hit a local cider mill or favorite fall destination. Have fun during these last warm days of autumn, because pretty soon, the snow will be here.
