Michigan has some excellent colleges and universities, and as it turns out, the Mitten also has schools that are comparatively easy to get into. Who would have thought?

Now is the time that millions of high school students are applying to colleges across the county and hoping to get into the school of their choosing. Many will get that coveted No. 1 pick, while others will have to, well, settle.

The new ranking of the hardest colleges to get into in America is from Niche.com, which says is has determined the 50 hardest schools to get into in 2023. Niche.com has determined the rankings based on acceptance rates and SAT/ACT test scores.

The No. 1 most difficult school to get into in America is not a big surprise: Harvard. It has a 5% acceptance rate, according to Niche. That's actually higher than I thought. I expected the Harvard acceptance rate to be more like 1%. No. 2 on the list is Stanford, with an acceptance rate of 5%, too. It's not No. 1 because Stanford accepts students with slightly lower test scores, according to Niche. Princeton comes in at No. 2 with a 6% acceptance rate. Of course, these schools are also not cheap to attend. Tuition can be more than $50,000 per academic year at each of the top three colleges.

So, which Michigan college is the toughest to get into? The Mitten doesn't get mentioned until No. 61 on the list. Yes, way down at 61. That college is the University of Michigan, which as an acceptance rate of 26%. That does seem fairly high. I'm surprised, because I always thought the University of Michigan was one of the best public universities in the county. Of course, it is still a great school, just easier to get into than other schools. Find the full list of the hardest colleges to get into in America here. This list includes both public and private four-year colleges.

Picking the right college to attend is a daunting task. I remember going through the process, and it wasn't easy, although living close to one of the biggest universities in the country made it a bit easer, as I picked Michigan State University.

Some students really want to have fun in college. I mean, having fun is important, but my little bit of advice is to pick a school that has a good record in your chosen program and where you think you'll be able to grow both academically and socially.

That said, the staff at Barstool Sports has put together a list of the Top 50 Party Schools in the country. I don't really see a metric behind why these schools were chosen, but Barstool is known for their party-happy web content, so they must have done some kind of research. As it turns out, Michigan has two of the top party schools in the U.S. Michigan comes in at No. 39 on the list, and Michigan State is No. 27. I actually think both schools have great academics, too, so maybe the mantra is work hard, play hard.

My buddy Joe Winner over at ESPN Florida first posted this story, noting that this is quite a comprehensive list. Read on for the full scoop on the top 50 party schools in the U.S., and best of luck in your college search!
