CeCe Winans, Jekalyn Carr & More Big Winners At The 53rd Annual GMA Dove Awards
Nashville, TN (October 21, 2022) The 53rd Annual GMA Dove Awards were held on October 18th, 2022, in Nashville, Tennessee. Co-hosts Erica Campbell and Chris Tomlin led the night of music with performances from across the community including Gospel, Latin, Hip Hop and Southern Gospel.
Iconic artist CeCe Winans made Dove Awards history this year as the first Black female solo artist to win Artist of the Year. When accepting her award, instead of an acceptance speech, she sang a few lines from the hymn “To God Be the Glory,” moving many in the audience to tears. She was also awarded Song of the Year for “Believe For It,” giving her an astonishing total of 25 Dove Awards to date!
The theme of this year’s show was “Sound of Heaven,” which highlighted different styles of Christian and Gospel under one banner of hope. Performances included Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Phil Wickham, Maverick City Music and more, as well as this performance by “Traditional Gospel Recorded Song of the Year” winner Jekalyn Carr.
