Spring is days away, but mother nature has other plans. Parts of Michigan will get hit with more snow. According to the National Weather Service, scattered snow showers will take place in Michigan over the weekend. Hazardous conditions are expected to be in the Upper Peninsula and parts of lower Michigan.

The Upper Peninsula will see more snow than other areas. A Winter Storm Warning is in place for Keweenaw, Ontonagon, Houghton, and Gogebic Counties starting at 8 p.m. on March 16 until 8 p.m. on March 18. Heavy snow is expected followed by lake-effect snow Friday afternoon through Saturday. With projected snow amounts ranging from 8” to 12” in those areas.

Lower West Michigan will see lake-effect snow showers and temperatures in the 20s. The projected snow amount will be about 1” to 3” according to the National Weather Service.

Rain is expected on Friday in southeast Michigan transitioning into scattered snow showers on Saturday.
