26 Metro Detroit Burger King Locations To Close
Across Metro Detroit, more than 400 Burger King workers are expected to lose their jobs due to a franchisee’s plans to close 26 locations. According to The Detroit News, EYM King of Michigan LLC expects to have 26 locations closed by April 15.
Based in Irving, Texas, the franchisee told Michigan officials in a letter on March 22 that it is permanently stopping operations in Michigan. The company said it was “due to the unforeseen business circumstance and not being able to reach a resolution with Burger King Corporation.”
They also stated in the letter that it began closing restaurants on March 17. The fast-food restaurant closings will force more than 400 employees to be laid off.
EYM King’s restaurants that will be closed are in Dearborn Heights, Detroit, Ecorse, Ferndale, Flint, Highland Park, Livonia, Royal Oak, Southfield, Walled Lake, Warren and Whitmore Lake.
