Snow Flocked Tamaracks

You've got to love Michigan. One day, it's hot and balmy out. The next day, it's snowy. The past few days in Michigan have felt like pure summer bliss. That trend has been continuing through the weekend, but believe it or now, snow is coming back to Michigan.

Even though Michigan had a very mild winter, I'm ready for summertime weather and sunshine. Early next week, cold air will come through Michigan, and it will bring snow. Moreover, that snow might even make its way to lower Michigan. But, I'm not happy about it.

According to the National Weather Service, cold air and moisture will work its way into Michigan during the day on Sunday (April 16). That good news is that we'll get some rain, which is much needed. A good portion of Michigan has actually been under a fire watch the past few days, because it's been so dry. The dryness coupled with high winds and heat is a recipe for forest fires.

Back to the snow. The weather will be cold enough for snow showers to form Monday (April 17), especially as we get closer to Monday evening. Overnight and going into Tuesday (April 18), some snow or sleet could develop across lower Michigan. That should end, thankfully, by later Tuesday, and everything should melt quickly. Lansing, Grand Rapids, Flint and Ann Arbor are all projected to have sleet or snow on Monday going into Tuesday. Right now, Detroit seems in the clear, but that could change. According to the NWS in Detroit, "Much cooler temperatures filter in behind the cold front, dropping into the lower 30s overnight. Rain/Snow showers are likely tomorrow with highs in the lower 40s." Let's hope this is the last "snowfall" of the season, because I'm pretty sure we'll all ready for summer fun.

Michiganders have a lot of pride about being from this great state. I certainly do! We've got the Great Lakes, beautiful forests, major sports teams and all the seasons. What's not to like? Okay, I could do without the cold winters. But, that aside, this is a pretty awesome place to live.

In honor of Michigan's 185th birthday on Jan. 26, 2022, we're celebrating the great actors and actresses that come from this state. My nana was a huge fan of Tom Sellek, so he's my favorite on here. Read on for the list via Stacker here and here.

Anne Erickson started her radio career shortly after graduating from Michigan State University and has worked on-air in Detroit, Flint, Toledo, Lansing and beyond. As someone who absolutely loves rock, metal and alt music, she instantly fell in love with radio and hasn’t looked back. When she’s not working, Anne makes her own music with her band, Upon Wings, and she also loves cheering on her favorite Detroit and Michigan sports teams, especially Lions and MSU football. Anne is also an award-winning journalist, and her byline has run in a variety of national publications. You can also hear her weekends on WRIF.
