This Is The Most Dangerous Time To Drive In Michigan
Most people have been in a car thousands of times, as a driver, or as a passenger. It’s something that becomes routine to us. We often forget how dangerous driving can be. Many of us become very comfortable over the years driving. Sometimes people partake in different forms of distracted driving, drunk driving, and other forms of dangerous driving behavior that can lead to car crash fatalities. There are many causes of fatal car crashes. Recently, a compilation of data has shown that there are certain times of the day that are more dangerous for driving than others.
“RELATED:According to NHTSA, there were more than 31,700 deaths due to car crashes in the first 9 months of 2022. Meanwhile, roadway fatalities seem to be a disturbingly high statistic with over 38,800 total fatalities in 2020.
Not long ago, Assurance gathered data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in order to find the most dangerous times to drive in each state. “It’s estimated that a fatal car accident occurs once every 16 minutes,” they stated. “We sourced fatal car accident data from the NHTSA and looked at factors like the number of licensed drivers and roadway miles in each state, according to data provided by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).”
The data shows that dangerous times for each state varies. Both 5-6 p.m. and 8-9 p.m. were equally dangerous for 10 states each. The after-work rush, 5-6 p.m. was the most dangerous time for states including Iowa, New York, and Tennessee.
When it comes to the second most dangerous times to drive, both 4-5 p.m. and 6-7 p.m. are tied for eight states. This includes Michigan amongst other states like Colorado, Massachusetts, and North Carolina.
On the other hand, 7-8 p.m. was the least dangerous time on the road overall, except for Connecticut drivers.
