Detroiters Eager For New Dog Park And Beer Garden Coming Soon
A new dog park, bar, beer garden and coffeehouse is making its way to Detroit’s West Village neighborhood later this summer. They say it’s the first in Detroit to offer indoor and outdoor space for dogs and their humans.
The 10,000 square-foot facility will have craft beers, cocktails, and coffee that people can enjoy while their dogs play outdoors or inside a play area.
Barkside will have amenities for the pets, including “dog beer” and “birthday pupcakes,” and the owners plan to host events like puppy training classes and breed meetups, among others.
According to The Detroit News, David Oh and Cody Williams, both Michigan State University finance graduates and dog owners from Detroit, are the founders of Barkside.
“Barkside is a social destination for dogs and their humans to relax and enjoy a beverage in the company of others,” they said in a statement. “Our safe, monitored play yard allows dogs to have fun with their furry friends while their humans enjoy local beers — all among a friendly staff and community of fellow dog lovers.”
The dog park said on their site that their outdoor play area will have a heated patio and a mud free dog park. Barkside will also have trained “rufferees” to ensure that all visitors have a safe experience. Your furry friends have to be registered and up to date on their shots.
Admission will be free for people without a dog, with day passes and monthly and annual memberships available for dog-owners. Barkside will be in Detroit’s West Village neighborhood at 7960 Kercheval Ave.
