Sandwich Showdown: Michigan Deli Rank Among Best In Nation

Many people enjoy a delicious sandwich now and then. Who doesn't love sandwiches combining fresh bread, tasty fillings, and a touch of crunch? Maybe customizing it to your liking with savory meats, cheeses, crisp veggies, and flavorful spreads.

According to a travel publication, Far and Wide, Ann Arbor is home to one of the best sandwiches in the entire country. They ranked sandwich shops from all over the U.S., and an Ann Arbor spot made it to their must-visit list. The website said that their ranked sandwich shops are the real deal, with some being legends and others buzzing with new flavors that will make your taste buds do a happy dance.

Zingerman's Deli has clinched the impressive 9th spot among the Top 15 sandwiches in the nation with its Reuben. The site called the sandwich "legendary," mentioning their “perfectly crispy homemade bread.”

“A veritable Ann Arbor institution, Zingerman’s is a city legend that has received such guests as former President Barack Obama,” said the ranking. “It may be cliché, but you’ll definitely want to order the Reuben, the shop’s most popular sandwich.”

If you can’t make it to Ann Arbor for the sandwich ranked as the best, you can recreate it in your own kitchen. The Reuben sandwich recipe has been shared on Zingerman’s Deli site. When it comes to their version of the Reuben, all you need is slices of Jewish rye bread from Zingerman's Bakehouse Swiss cheese, tangy Brinery sauerkraut, juicy lean meat from United Meat and Deli, a generous slather of Russian dressing, and pickles for a crunch.

Which place made number one for sandwiches?

Claiming the top spot in the ranking is Big Wally's Subs and Deli, located in Parling, New Jersey. The ranking highlighted its menu, which has more than 50 sandwich combinations on the menu.
