Michigan Restaurant Ranked One of the Best by the NYT
Here in Michigan, we have some great restaurants. In fact, one might say that we have some of the best restaurants in America. Now there’s proof. The New York Times has released its list of the best restaurants in America. Now, one Michigan spot made the cut. It’s so great to see a locally-owned restaurant be named one of the best by the NYT.
Specifically, the New York Times says these are the “50 places in the United States that we’re most excited about right now.” Before we get to Michigan, let’s look at a few other restaurants around the country. One spot that I’ve actually heard great stuff about is El Chignon in Philadelphia. If you’re in the area for an Eagles game or whatnot, it’s a great spot for Mexican cuisine. As the New York Times explains, “El Chingon doesn’t clamor for attention or traffic in gimmicks; it’s simply a neighborhood restaurant, albeit one of the highest order.” They also mention that “Juan Carlos Aparicio takes us home to the Pueblan kitchen where his mother taught him to cook,” so it’s great to see that family tradition carried on.
Michigan Restaurant Ranked One of the Best by the NYT
So, which Michigan restaurant was ranked one of the best by the NYT? Ladder 4 in Detroit, known for its natural wine and delicious food. In the article, they state that this spot started mainly for their wine. But, it’s blossomed into a great place to dine. As for what to try, they say, “You’ll leave raving about charred leeks crowned with gribiche and trout roe, or pork schnitzel escorted by a salad of fresh peas and mint, in the same breath as Sipon, the Slovene skin-contact wine recommended for its ‘funky-kampucha-dried-apricot vibes.'” That sounds so delicious. I’m looking forward to dining at this spot soon. Find the full list here.
