Michigan Man Appears in Court for Suspended License While Driving
A Michigan man, due in court for driving on a suspended license, attended his hearing this week via Zoom—while driving a car. Corey Harris even informed Judge Cedric Simpson that he was arriving at his doctor’s office and requested the judge to wait as he parked.
The exasperated Judge Simpson inquired, “OK, so maybe I don’t understand something. This is a driving while license is suspended?” The public defender sheepishly said, “That is correct, Your Honor.” As Harris parked his vehicle in the background of the Zoom call, the judge repeated, “And he was just driving, and he didn’t have a license?” “Those are the charges, Your Honor, yes,” the public defender replied.

Following a brief pause, Judge Simpson said, “I don’t even know why he would do that,” then promptly moved to revoke Harris’ bond and ordered him to turn himself in adding that failure to turn himself in would result in a bench warrant with no bond. Harris looked like he was caught with his hand in a cookie jar when the judge revoked his bond whispering, “Oh my God.”
