Detroit Judge Reportedly Dismisses Case Against Accused Beavis Graffiti Artist
The case against person accused of putting Beavis graffiti around Detroit has reportedly been dismissed. The popular artwork recently took the internet by storm.
For years, Beavis graffiti was seen across Detroit. It was found on highway underpasses, constructions sites, and even inside a grocery store at one point! After finally being caught, the case is now reportedly being dismissed! Find out why below.
Detroit Judge Reportedly Dismisses Case Against Alleged Beavis Graffiti Artist
If you aren’t familiar, Beavis is a character from the popular MTV show “Beavis And Butt-Head.” It’s nothing short of a classic. Regardless of whether or not they watched the show, Detroiters have been seeing Beavis’ head around town for years. They just might not have known who it was.
Violet Ikonomova of the Detroit Free Press reports that a Detroit judge has dismissed 6 felony counts against Bryan Herrin, the man accused of spray painting Beavis graffiti across Detroit. Had the six counts of malicious destruction of property not been dismissed, he could have reportedly faced up to four years behind bars, per the Freep. Judge Ronald Giles ruled there was insufficient evidence presented at the preliminary exam for the case to proceed, per the Detroit Free Press.
At one point, the Detroit Free Press says an anonymous suspect claimed to have sprayed around 20 Beavis faces a night throughout town. That explains why we have seen so many of them all across the city. How the suspect was potentially discovered is an interesting story all on its own. According to the Detroit Free Press, Herrin was arrested in June roughly two months after said unidentified suspect gave an interview to the Metro Times about how the Mike Judge cartoon inspired him because of the characters’ “inability to attract women.” Did that interview lead to his arrest? That’s unsure but there does appear to be reason to think it’s more than just a possibility if it happened that quickly after the alleged interview.
So, will we be seeing more Beavis graffiti faces pop up around Detroit? That remains to be seen. However, the hero we didn’t know we needed remains free (for now). Is it Herrin? An unidentified suspect? The Great Cornolio, himself? We may never know.
