ABL Foundation Continues Its Mission To Help Those Grieving

Portia Lockett created The Azal Benne’ Lockett Foundation two years ago to honor her son after his tragic departure from this life in December 2020. His departure left his family and countless others in tremendous grief while grabbling through the process of healing.

The ABL Foundation reaches out to assist grieving families by offering counseling referrals, economic resources & training to those who are experiencing loss and trauma and exist to “help people heal, offer hope, and hold hearts during the grief and healing process.” (Source: Azal Benne Lockett Foundation)

I first talked to Portia in 2022, when she began a help and healing six-part series beginning with “Permission to Grieve Day” and ending with “Permission to Move Forward Day.” Today, Portia Lockett stopped by to talk about the Azal Benne Lockett Foundation 2nd Anniversary Prayer Breakfast which happens on September 7, 2024, at Wayne County Community College NW Campus Denise Wellons-Glover Welcome Center. Randi Myles is the mid-day host on Detroit’s Praise Network. Randi’s mom knew she was destined to be in some form of entertainment when even as a small child, she would pretend a pencil was a microphone and sing and charm family and friends. Later she would sing in church and college choirs. However, it wasn’t until she attended Specs Howard School of Media Arts, that Ms. Myles would find her true voice. Randi enjoys writing about the city of Detroit, faith, and the community.
