August Is National Minority Donor Awareness Month
This month, we observe National Minority Donor Awareness Month, highlighting the critical need for donations among minority populations. Gift of Life Michigan has been a national leader in organ and tissue donation since 1971, committed to saving and enhancing lives.
Established in 1996, the National Minority Organ Tissue Transplant Education Program focuses on educating about organ donation and encouraging donor registration. Additionally, it advocates for healthy lifestyles and disease prevention to reduce the necessity for transplants.
Today, I had a conversation with Remonia Chapman, who is the Director of Public Education and Community Outreach for Gift of Life Michigan. We’ve worked together for years, motivating various communities to sign up for the donor registry. Our talk went further than just registry sign-ups; we also promoted healthy living and disease prevention at our churches, workplaces, and family gatherings.

About Randi Myles:
I am a child of God that has a lot to say.
Here you will find conversations with artists, authors, speakers, and teachers within the faith-based community. Also, my journey has been colorful, rich, and sometimes really hard so, I look for answers and respite through these posts. My mom wanted me to write a book and I’m working on that, so bear with me as I fumble my way through.
I am working on balancing my extremely fun work life with my personal life that is filled with challenges these days. I know that God will see me to victory so… welcome to my life.
