Detroit native and R&B star KEM took to social media to express his sadness over the death of Frankie Beverly, the frontman of Maze.
KEM said, “Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of opening for Frankie numerous times. My band and I always stayed to watch his electrifying and unifying performances.”
“His music’s impact on our culture cannot be overstated. His multi-generational, standing-room-only groove catalog is an accomplishment I will always aspire to.”
Frankie Beverly passed away at 77; he was the lead singer of Maze, an R&B and soul group that started in Philadelphia in 1970. They had nine gold albums, best known for their hits, “Happy Feelin’s,” While I’m Alone,” Golden Time of Day,” and many others.
The Beverly family announced the loss on social media and asked for privacy during this difficult time, saying, “Grieving the loss of a loved one is a deeply personal and emotional experience. This period for us is one of healing, and your respect for our need for solitude is appreciated as we honor the memory of our beloved Howard Stanley Beverly.”
