The Ferndale Underground Holiday Market happens Nov. 15 and 16. It's in the lower part of the DOT parking garage at Allen and Troy. Merchants will sell their wares and treats over the two days.
Saturday runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., while Sunday goes from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission won't cost you a dime.
This gathering is part of downtown Ferndale's Jingle and Mingle celebration each year. Guests can hunt for gifts while listening to music and joining other activities all weekend long.
"The market has similarities with other holiday markets in that we include art, makers, bakers, and more," said producer Mark Loeb, according to Oakland County Times. "The difference is that we look for things that are a bit unusual, which includes the venue."
Kids and grown-ups can try free make-and-take activities. They'll create ornaments and gift items at the market.
Merchants will offer handmade jams. You'll see soaps, pies, baked goods and candies for sale. The Mint Artists Guild brings art gifts that Detroit teens made.
"Our goal is to encourage people to choose one-of-a-kind gifts for their loved ones," Loeb said.
Planners will gather donations for the Renaissance Vineyard Food Pantry and FernCare Free Health Clinic.
Good donation choices include canned and dried foods. You can also give money instead.
The parking structure sits at the corner of Troy Street and Allen Road. That's one block west of Woodward Avenue. More information is available at undergroundferndale.com.
