Detroit Red Wings Alumni will face Team STAHLS in the ninth annual Power Play for Heroes charity hockey game Friday, Nov. 14, at Civic Ice Arena in St. Clair Shores. Money raised goes to Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs, which trains and provides service canines to Michigan veterans, as per WXYZ.
Local veterans will be honored on the ice before the game. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. EST.
The alumni roster features four-time Stanley Cup Champion Darren McCarty and two-time Stanley Cup Champion Vladimir Konstantinov. Other former players include Justin Abdelkader, Red Berenson, Dino Ciccarelli, Darian Hatcher, Mickey Redmond, Drew Miller, Danny Dekeyser, and John Ogrodnick.
Team STAHLS will include 7 News Detroit Sports Director Brad Galli, racing driver Nolan Allaer, and former NHL Zamboni driver Al Sobotka.
Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs has received support from this annual fundraiser for nine years.
Fans who attend can bid on auction items or buy memorabilia and apparel from the alumni. BBQ Daddy will provide food at the venue.
The concession stand will offer adult beverages and other items. Tickets are available through Eventbrite.
