The Michigan House Mental Health Task Force is coming to Detroit today to gather information about mental healthcare, housing, substance use issues and job training.
The hearing will be held today at Team Mental Health Services at 6309 Mack Ave, Detroit MI from 1pm – 3pm
Testimony is expected from the Detroit Wayne Mental Health Authority, Detroit Police Department, Alliance for Safety and Justice, Wayne County Mental Health Collaborative, Community Network Services and more.
The information gathered at the meeting will hopefully influence the bipartisan House C.A.R.E.S task force to make better decisions about mental health legislature. Their mission extends to serve our criminal justice system as we must improve how we deliver mental health services to our prison population while at the same time being smart on crime, soft on taxpayers, and promoting public safety. The task force has been charged with building a conversation around these issues as a whole, expose diverse perspectives, and find solutions to address mental health services effectively.
This is the fourth of these public hearings and the only one slated for Wayne County.
