DETROIT – Raeshawn Bumphers, one of the winners of the Motor City Match Round 10, is preparing for the Spring 2018 grand opening of the Pink Poodle Dress Lounge (PPDL).  PPDL, located at 9209 East Jefferson in Detroit’s Village area, is a vintage and modern bridal salon and dress lounge that will offer a variety of dresses, shoes and accessories for its customers.  PPDL is one of a handful of bridal salons located in the City of Detroit.  Bumphers received a $25,000 cash prize from Motor City Match that will be used to bring PPDL from online to an actual brick and mortar dress store.

“I am very excited to be a business owner that will help contribute to the vitality and comeback of Detroit,” says Bumphers.  “Pink Poodle Dress Lounge is a dream come true and I look forward to providing my customers with a quality experience whether they are looking for the dress for their big day, a special occasion or a night out.”

Bumphers inspiration for Pink Poodle Dress Lounge originates from her great grandmother, grandmother and her grandmother’s sister.  The name and décor for the Pink Poodle Dress Lounge comes from Bumphers great aunt, Everlena McDowell, who owned the Pink Poodle Lounge in Milwaukee, Wisc.  Bumphers has over twenty plus years experience that includes the automotive and public procurement fields along with bridal and hospitality services.  She combined this experience and her ideas into an award winning business plan selected by Motor City Match.

“This was my first time applying for Motor City Match,” says Bumphers.  “Everything was just in divine order! I wanted my shop to be in Detroit and I am now able to see my vision become a reality.”

PPDL will not only serve as a bridal salon and dress lounge, but it will also be available as a venue for rental for bridal and baby showers, luncheons and small parties.  PPDL will also offer beauty services with an onsite makeup artist and nail technician.  Bumphers is also collaborating with David Abraham Custom Clothiers in Birmingham, Mich to offer a variety of prom and bridal packages.  Bumphers vision for PPDL includes offering wedding planning services along with invitation design and printing.

PPDL will help Bumphers to fulfill her life long passion of mentoring young girls and empowering women.  While bringing PPDL to fruition Bumphers is also working on her next set of plans to create a non-profit geared towards young girls.  Bumphers hopes to serve as a role model with the message of never giving up on your dreams or passion and be good at whatever you do.  Bumphers looks forward to offering young girls in the Detroit Public Schools Community District the opportunities for an internship that will be focused on the fashion, bridal, marketing and hospitality industries.

Bumphers has a career as a procurement specialist.  She presently works in the automotive field and has also worked for the former Detroit Public Schools (DPS) District.  She helped to assist with DPS being removed as high risk from the State of Michigan.  Bumphers plans to pour her leadership, project management, strategic planning and hospitality skills into PPDL.
