WHY: Royal Oak High School students and community leaders will say “never again” to school shootings. On February 14, 2018, 17 people were shot and killed, and more than a dozen injured, at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. The students are all deeply affected by this tragedy.
Only in America is the phrase “yet another mass shooting” part of our vocabulary: More than 96 Americans are killed and hundreds of others are wounded every single day. The focus of the rally is to send a strong message to leaders in Washington, in statehouses, and in corporate boardrooms across the country that American will not stand idly by when the safety of students and the safety of communities is put at risk by a dangerous gun lobby agenda. American lives are worth more than the profits of gun manufacturers and the agenda of the gun lobby.
Students and the community will rally from 8-9am and then go to March For Our Lives in Detroit. March For Our Lives in Detroit is one of over 800 marches around the world on March 24, 2018.
