Even after her unfortunate death, Queen Aretha Franklin is still reigning supreme musically, as she is dominating billboard categories from R&B to gospel. The Queen’s 1999 album “Gospel Greats” which had such classic songs as “Amazing Grace”, “God Will Take Care of You”, and “Mary Don’t You Weep”, has gotten comfortable atop the Billboard Top Gospel Albums Chart, sitting at #1 for over three weeks now.

The Queen of Soul who’s passing rocked the world just over a month ago has seen a significant spike in sales, listens, and downloads since her passing. The civil rights activist, writer, and singer, most known for her rendition of “Respect” is actually gaining traction in some of the more overlooked pockets of her career. In addition to “Gospel Greats”, Franklin’s album “Amazing Grace: The Complete Recordings” is currently sitting at #3 on the Billboard Gospel Charts right behind “Gospel Greats”. On top of this resurgence, the Queen has seen a rise in attention of the R&B charts as well, as her greatest hits album “The Very Best of Aretha Franklin, The 60s”, has just risen into the Top Ten R&B charts. The Queen is certainly no stranger to the Billboard charts, her dominance consists of 2 No. 1 Hits, 5 Top 10 Hits, and 14 Hit songs throughout her career respectively.

Her death was shocking not only for the music world but everywhere on the planet, as everyone from Barack Obama, to the 70th Annual Emmy Awards has recognized her contribution to the Civil Rights movement, and music of varying categories. The City of Detroit, being the Queens hometown, was a stand out in the remembrance of Aretha as the entire city seemed to halt and acknowledge just how impactful her contributions were.

Following her death, thousands attended her funeral which was star-studded and talked about in headlines nationwide.
