The entire month of February is American Heart Month and today is the 10th anniversary of National Wear Red Day to encourage awareness of the issue of women and heart disease, and also action to save more lives.
The Detroit Medical Center is supporting American Heart Month with a heavy push to increase awareness of heart disease in women with a goal to inspire the community to improve their heart health.
I spoke with Dr. Vijay Kudesia, a heart specialist from the DMC on why this is so important, why women are affected so greatly by heart disease and what we can do prevent heart disease:
