COLEThe Michigan Wolverines are not strangers to gaining some of the best recruits in the country but that doesn’t stop Michigan fans from being excited about the Wolverines newest commit, Saginaw Heritage (Mich.) four-star 2015 athlete Brian Cole

Following in the footsteps of LeBron James’ Sports Illustrated letter announcing his decision to return to Cleveland, Cole, chose to announced his decision to Michigan on Saturday afternoon with a creative tweet and picture of himself with the title “I’m staying home,”.

Cole chose Michigan over Michigan State, Ohio State, Tennessee and Wisconsin, among others, who he also held offers from. If you haven’t already figured it out, this obviously a big and great commitment for the Wolverines.

As of right now, Cole is rated as the No. 65 overall prospect in the country by’s composite list and as the top overall prospect in the state of Michigan. If you’re wondering if he lives up to the hype of his rankings, trust me when I say that he lives up to every piece of hype he receives.

At 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, Cole is one of the most versatile threats in the country seeing that he plays on both sides of the ball with great athleticism and speed. During his time at Saginaw Hertiage, Cole has played running back, quarterback, wide receiver, safety and corner-back.

Last season, as a junior, he accounted for 47 tackles, five interceptions and rushed for nearly 1,200 yards and 16 touchdowns as a running back. Keep in mind that he did all of that while only playing in just eight games because of an injury. If that’s not enough to impress you, as a sophomore he was just as impressive, rushing for nearly 1,300 yards at running back, while leading the team with four interceptions on defense.

If you’re wondering what side of the field Cole will be playing on along with what position he will be playing during his time at Michigan, it has been reported that he will most likely play at wide receiver during his time with the Wolverines.

If you ask me, I think Michigan will probably play him in the slot. If you know anything about Cole, you know that in the slot, he will be a match-up nightmare for just about anybody who covers him because of his good size, speed and overall athleticism. Plus, he’s a hard runner who is more than capable of breaking tackles and gaining extra yards, not to mention, he has second gear of speed that allows him to out run just about everyone in the open field. So either way you look at it, he’s a match-up nightmare and he can hurt you just about anywhere on the field.

Although it’s not a shock to see Michigan gain a great prospect like Cole, it’s still great to see the Wolverines grab another big time commitment from one of the state’s top prospects. If you’re looking for someone to possibly thank, you may want to thank Michigan commit and Brother Rice (Mich.) 2015 quarterback Alex Malzone. According to reports and the tweets below, Cole has been spending the weekend in Ann Arbor and Malzone has been by Cole’s side the entire time.

I don’t know about you but I could get used to the idea of saying “Malzone connects with Cole,  for a Michigan touchdown” and I’m sure there are plenty of Michigan fans who agree with me.
