Michigan head coach Brady Hoke announced Sunday afternoon that wide receiver Csont’e York has been suspended indefinitely and will not join the team for fall camp.
According to MLive.com, Michigan released the news shortly before select members of the team were scheduled to meet with the media Sunday, the first official day of fall camp.
“Csont’e York is suspended indefinitely for failing to meet team standards and will not report for fall camp,” said Michigan head coach Brady Hoke in a statement. “We demand that every person in our program represent the University of Michigan and the Michigan football program the right way on and off the field. When people fall short of that, there are consequences.”
Now I know what your thinking, what team standards did York fail to meet? Well, at this point, my guess is good as yours, because coach Hoke did not go into details as to how York failed to meet team standards.

This news is disappointing for two reasons. The first being that we hate to see a bright and talented young man like York getting into trouble with the law or otherwise. The second reason being that we may not get a chance to see York compete this season.
The Michigan native sat out most of last season as a red-shirt, only appearing in one game as a reserve wide receiver. However, coming into this season, York was expected to fight for time at wide receiver. I don’t know about you but I feel with York’s size and overall skill level, he very well could have earned playing time this season with the Wolverines.
During his time at Chandler Park Academy, York was dual-sport athlete, who played both basketball and football. While he thrived in both sports, it was on the football field that scouts feel in love with his game, including Michigan.
At 6-foot-3 and 191 pounds, York already has great size but what helps him to stand out, is his great ball skills. When I say he has great ball skills, I’m talking about his natural ability to catch the ball at its highest point and not catch it with his body. Unlike so many young receivers, he always catches the ball with his hands. If that’s not enough, he is also physical and athletic receiver, who knows how to create separation and is never afraid to jump and make an acrobatic play.
However, by not following team rules, York has probably missed a great opportunity to see some snaps this year, which is extremely unfortunate for him as well as for his team.
Nevertheless, the Wolverines, still have plenty to look forward to, including their first official practice of fall camp on Monday.
