After earning offers from Ohio State, Cincinnati, Akron and Toledo, Wake Forest, NC State and Northern Illinois. Southfield (Mich.) 2016 running back Matt Falcon, received his eighth scholarship offer from Illinois on Wednesday.
Falcon missed his entire sophomore season with a torn ACL, but as you can see from his offer list above, he hasn’t let that hold him back from being recruited because since getting back on the field this summer, he hasn’t missed a beat.
According to 247 composite rankings, Falcon is a 4-star prospect and he is listed as the country’s No. 17 running back and the No. 7 prospect in Michigan and trust me when I say that he lives up to his high-ranking.
At 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, Falcon has a great combination of speed and vision to make defenders miss in the open field but he also has the unique power-rushing ability to break tackles and gain the tough yardage. In fact, he showed some of those skills during Southfield’s 21-19 loss to Orchard Lake St. Mary’s last week. I have no doubt that he will show some of those same skills on Saturday evening, as he and the Southfield Bluejays go up against Rochester Adams.
Although he doesn’t plan on committing anytime soon, Falcon did tell 247 Sports that he hopes to visit Northwestern and Purdue in October and hopefully attend games at Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State.
“I want to make it to games at Purdue and Northwestern in October,” Falcon said to 247sports.com. “And I’m planning to get to games at Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State.”
Falcon mentions two games in particular he wants to see, Penn State at Michigan and Michigan at Ohio State.
