If you're looking to buy your first house, it's a difficult market. I would love to buy my first home right now, but the prices are just wild. That said, one Michigan town is actually one of the best in the entire U.S. for first-time home buyers. So, if you're looking for the perfect home, this locale might be of interest.

Realtor.com recently released their list of the best cities in the country for first-time home buyers. According to the company, they rank cities and towns in the country's 100 largest metropolitan areas for the list.

So, which Michigan spot it hot? Ferndale, Michigan, came in at No. 9 on the list. The Detroit suburb is located just northwest of downtown and is a delightful spot. According to Realtor.com, suburbs and rural areas are showing more promise when it comes to affordable houses than city centers.

In the study, Realitor.com commented that one of Ferndale's advantages is that, "first-time buyers here don’t have to sacrifice nightlife to own a home of their own in this funky town. There's ax-throwing, plenty of independent shops, and live-music venues. Breweries, a distillery, and dozens of locally owned restaurants dot this artsy community."
