Simone Biles’ Message For Her Haters: ‘I Can’t Hear You Over My 7 Olympic Medals’
TOKYO, JAPAN - AUGUST 03: Simone Biles of Team United States poses with the bronze medal during the Women's Balance Beam Final medal ceremony on day eleven of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games at Ariake Gymnastics Centre on August 03, 2021 in Tokyo, Japan.
Simone Biles is not letting any haters bring her down.
After withdrawing from the 2021 Tokyo Olympics over concerns of her mental health, the seven-time Olympian took a moment to reflect on her Olympic journey on Instagram.
“Definitely not the way I planned the Olympics going but I wouldn’t change anything for the world,” she wrote. “I’m proud of myself and the career I’ve had thus far. This Olympics doesn’t erase the past accomplishments I’ve achieved nor does it define who I am as an athlete.”
“I’ve pushed through so much the past couple years, the word quitter is not in my vocabulary,” she continued. “For some of you that may be how you define me but keep talking because I can’t hear you over my 7 Olympic medals which tied me for the most decorated gymnast EVER as well as most decorated American gymnast 😊🤭 .”
Biles has gotten a lot of of support from friends and fans after being open about her journey.
Olympic teammate and best friend Jordan Chiles commented, “Preach! Say it louder for the people in the back 💕”
“I can’t hear you over my 7 Olympic medals” OKAYYY! FOR THE PPL IN THE BACK! 🔥🔥🔥,” one fan wrote.
Another fan defended Biles and attacked the haters, “the people running their mouths can’t even touch their toes. they can have a seat.”
Previously, Biles discussed her mental health with
PEOPLE after
winning bronze on beam in the Olympics, “To bring up the topic of mental health, I think it should be talked about a lot more, especially with athletes because I know some of us are going through the same things, and we’re always told to push through it, but we are all a little older now, and we can kind of speak for ourselves. At the end of the day, we’re not just entertainment. We’re human, and there are things going on behind the scenes that we’re also trying to juggle with, as well, on top of sports.”
Since the Olympics, the gymnast has been enjoying life including celebrating her one-year anniversary with NFL player boyfriend Johnathan Owens.
Biles has also been enjoying some time with her friends, celebrating her best friend’s engagement.
Biles seems the least bit concern about haters as she enjoys life post-Olympics.
