Teyana Taylor Gives Update On Dionne Warwick Biopic

Teyana Taylor will be playing legendary singer Dionne Warwick in an upcoming biopic. However, ever since the announcement last year, details surrounding the project have been mum. Until now.

“It’s Official… we are funded and have a shoot date! ELLIOTT ENTERTAINMENT IS DOING BIG THINGS IN 2024!!’ Damon Elliott, Warwick’s son, posted the announcement on Instagram, accompanied by side-by-side photos of Teyana and his mother.

Taylor reposted Damon’s photo and wrote a heartfelt caption after accepting the role as the icon.

“And just like that.. 2020MORE Blessings! [rose emoji] [pray emoji] red heart emoji],” she began her caption. Ms. Dionne Warwick… A woman of great statue, poise and elegance, with a fiery spirit — Realizing I was looking at my future self. My reflection without a mirror.Being able to learn and study from one of the greats like, @therealdionnew has allowed me to learn a lot about myself and the woman I am today. She has taught us to be proud of who you are…. —Don’t Make Me Over. [red heart emoji]”

She continued: “@therealdionnew Your music and social involvement has enhanced the culture. Your soul and artistry serves as an example of not only resilience and strength, but of faith and purpose. [rose emoji] Thank you for trusting me, @coco_gilbert And our production company @theauntiesinc with telling your iconic story! We are so excited to make you proud! Shout out to @iamdamonelliott it’s GO TIMEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! It’s been a long time coming!!! [strong emoji]

Dionne Warwick Responds To The Biopic Update

Back in April, Taylor spoke to Tamron Hall about her role as Warwick and how she plans to honor her career.

“I’ve always been a firm believer and always just stood on safety, you know what I’m saying? She’s had a wonderful career and I think right now is about making her feel as safe as possible.”

Dionne also commented on the news, adding her excitement for the update. “Very exciting news! Any guesses on the rest of the cast?” she asked her followers, showing a side-by-side image of her and Taylor.
