Erebus Announces Major 25th Anniversary Prize, and It’s Creepy
Erebus Haunted Attraction in Pontiac is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and their grand prize is totally creepy. The haunt has announced that they’ll be giving the big winner “an actual casket packed with swag and gifts.” The winner will be announced on Saturday, Nov. 2.
The Story Behind the Prize
There’s a story behind the casket, which Erebus has shared. “In the shadowy depths of Erebus Haunted Attraction, whispers of the past linger like mist, and an air of dread hangs heavy,” they explain. “Once an unassuming vessel, the casket was interred years ago after its grim contents triggered a series of inexplicable hauntings within the attraction.”
They add that locals say “the restless spirit of the casket’s occupant roamed the halls, seeking vengeance against those who dared disturb their eternal slumber. Legends grew of ominous apparitions and chilling cries echoing through the night, warning trespassers to stay away. But as the casket was unearthed and dusted off to make way for enticing prizes, a sense of foreboding returned to Erebus.”
Finally, “Some believe that removing the remains has merely awakened the spirit from its slumber, inviting a wave of eerie events that will haunt the winner of this curious prize. Will they relish in their fortune, or will they find themselves caught in a sinister web, forever entwined with the legacy of Erebus?”
As for some of the Erebus swag, expect a full-size skeleton, limited edition 25th anniversary gear, VIP tickets for 2025’s haunting season, Erebus Escape tickets, Mythos Museum of Oddities and Curiosities museums tickets, tickets for the Pontiac Transportation Museum, tantalizing pizza from Hungry Howie’s, talking zombie heads, PlayStation 5 console Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 bundle and more.
“As one lucky winner claims their astonishing bounty, a chilling realization creeps in—perhaps they are not merely taking home prizes but disturbing something that has long rested, awakening the spirits that linger in the shadows of Erebus,” they add.”
There are also other special activities and promotions happening at Erebus in honor of their 25th anniversary, with Erebus promising that “each day of its 25th season, there will be a variety of anniversary promotions and activities.”
One fun fact about Erebus is that it was originally built as a haunted attraction in 2000, making it one of the longest-running haunted houses in Michigan, according to their staff. The size is more than a 1/2 mile, making it one of the largest indoor haunted houses in the world. Erebus, the 25th season, runs through Saturday, November 2. It’s located at 18 S Perry Street in Pontiac.
