‘RHOA’ NeNe Leakes Husband Gregg Leakes Dead At 66
NeNe Leakes’ husband, Gregg Leakes, has died after his battle with colon cancer. He was 66.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta star’s husband of over 20 years passed away Wednesday according to a family rep per TMZ.
“Today the Leakes family is in deep pain with a broken heart. After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes has passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones and wife Nene Leakes,” the rep told the outlet.
They added: “We ask that you pray for peace and strength over their family & allow them to mourn in private during this very very difficult time.”
Sources close to the family told the outlet that at Gregg’s request there will not be a funeral and NeNe will be honoring that wish. Instead, there will be a celebration of life ceremony sometime in the future.
Gregg and NeNe first got married in 1997 and divorced in 2011. Two years later the couple remarried and have remained together since. Gregg and NeNe share one son together, Brentt, 22 but were a blended family. Gregg has four other children from a previous relationship, Katrina, Damian, Dexter, Daryl, Denton, and NeNe has one son Bryson from a previous relationship.
The news of Gregg’s passing was something NeNe alluded to just over the weekend when she had an issue with fans who were upset about her “rudeness” when she didn’t wish one of them a happy birthday. That’s when the reality star took the mic and informed them of her husband’s current health situation.
“When people approach and say, ‘You’re rude because you don’t want to say happy birthday,’ my husband is at home dying. I don’t want to say ‘happy birthday,’ ” the reality star said at the time.
“So please, give us some respect. Give us some love,” NeNe added.
