Jekalyn Carr, Kirk Franklin, PJ Morton and More Nominated for Dove Awards
The GMA Dove Awards are officially here, and some of our favorite gospel artists made the cut.
Jekalyn Carr has scored two Dove Award nominations for Traditional Gospel Album of the Year for her No. 1 album “Changing Your Story” and Traditional Gospel Song of the Year for the album’s title track.
This is Carr’s fifth consecutive year getting recognized by the Dove Awards. She won the 2018 Traditional Gospel Album of the Year for “One Nation Under God.”
RCA Inspiration garnered more than ten nominations at the Dove Awards, including for artists such as Kirk Franklin (Fo Yo Soul/RCA), Marvin Sapp, Travis Greene, Koryn Hawthorne, Mali Music, Kelontae Gavin, DOE, Melvin Crispell, III and All Nations Music.
Tyscot Records–affiliated artists also did well, scoring five nominations. R&B star PJ Morton, Anthony Brown & group therAPy, VaShawn Mitchell and Kelontae Gavin were among the nominees.
The show will take place Oct. 19 at Nashville, Tennessee’s Allen Arena, and the broadcast will air on TBN, Friday, Oct. 22, at 8 p.m. EST with a repeat showing at 10 p.m. EST.
