Detroit Pistons Fans Are Losing Their Minds Over Draft Pick
Detroit Pistons fans are losing their minds about the team’s No. 5 overall NBA Draft pick. I’m a Detroit Pistons fan, so I’m not happy to see everyone so confused and upset over the pick. But, at this point, I’m finding the humor in the situation. I mean, the Pistons drew the No. 5 draft pick, when we should have been much higher in the draft. Then, we picked someone totally unexpected who was more likely to be drafted the No. 14 or 15 pick. In my opinion, they could have traded down and still gotten him. But, I have hope that this guy will turn out to be a winner. Regardless, the Pistons will always be my team.
Fans Are Losing Their Minds About Draft Pick
First of all, I want to say, welcome to Detroit, Ron Holland. The Motor City is a beautiful place, and I hope this is a match made in Pistons heaven. But, the Holland pick was quite a surprise. Granted, Detroit needs the kind of star player than can change a franchise by himself, and this year’s draft didn’t offer that. In general, Pistons fans seem just plain shocked about the pick. A lot of the early reaction to the pick was negative, but as Pistons fans often have to do, it seems fans are calming down, doing some research and convincing ourselves that he’s the right guy for the job.
The Detroit Pistons immediately shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), and the reactions started right away. Fans seemed to be losing their minds. Heck, I was, too. They posted everything from crying emojis to comments such as “I’m going to go insane” to “We are so cooked.” But, some fans were more positive, commenting happy messages, such as “Love it, gotta go with the upside pick there, and they did” to “I’m getting dawg vibes from this guy excited to see what he can do.” Also on X, Piston Powered noted, “Wow, surprising. But he seems like a Langdon guy given his past.” So, there’s a little ray of sunshine amid everyone losing their minds.
I’m on the fence about the Holland pick. I think he definitely has potential, and hopefully the powers at be know something we don’t. But, I wish the Pistons had tried to trade down to get him. That seems like a missed opportunity. Reach out to me with your NBA Draft thoughts on the Pistons and beyond. I’m getting excited for both the NBA and NFL seasons to start.
