Michigan Corn Mazes Offer Fall Adventure
Fall is the perfect time to visit a cider mill and corn maze, and Michigan corn mazes offer lots of fall fun. I absolutely love visiting cider mills in the fall. Actually, I like doing it in the spring and summer, too, because it’s less busy and makes for some scenic views. But, this fall season, I’ve already been to two area cider mills, because I had to get a jump on the seasonal fun. If you’re planning to visit a cider mill or two coming up, make note that these local corn maze spots. Of course, if doesn’t stop there, so venture out and try any of your local cider mills for some adventure this season.
Delightful Michigan Corn Mazes
The experts at USA Today have a new 10 Best tally out with the best corn mazes in America. These are spots that were selected by an expert panel and voted by their readers as the best in the country. “Each autumn, farms across the United States transform their cornfields into interactive mazes, perfect for a fall family outing,” they state, adding that these spots “are the most exemplary, both for the quality of the mazes themselves and for the wealth of other activities” offered. Whether you’re looking for a scary corn maze or one that offers family fun, they have you covered. I love regular corn mazes and haunted ones can be a blast, but I always have the fear of getting stuck in one, which is silly.
The No. 1 corn maze in America, according to their readers and panel, is Treworgy Family Orchards in Levant, Maine. It’s the “longest continually running corn maze in the state,” covering more than four acres and consists of 60,000 corn plants grown to a height of 10 feet.
So, what about our area? Sadly, no Michigan corn mazes made the USA Today tally. But, that doesn’t mean we don’t have great Michigan corn mazes. One legendary Michigan corn maze that I’ve visited before is BestMaze II Corn Maze at 2611 South Waverly Highway in Lansing. I know a lot of people from the Detroit area venture a bit west to check out this spot. The original Bestmaze closed in 2022 after 22 years, but now, there’s Bestmaze II, which was designed and installed by the original owner. Another great one is at Shawhaven Farm at 1826 Rolfe Road in Mason, family owned and operated since 1947.
